Passionata is a vintage clothing, accessories and jewellery store in Birkenhead. I’ve been visiting it for a while, as I’ve lived in the area for a couple of years now. The beauty of this store is in it’s wares, and the sometimes overwhelming amount of them.
Prepare for your sparkle-ometer to go crazy as you walk in to this store. It’s chocca with the kinds of extravagant costume (and real) jewels and sequinned things that your Nana had tucked away in her china cabinet or jewellry box. It simply oozes the elegant glamour that our generation has begun to loose. The times where you’d have a diamond necklace AND earrings and a bangle to match, but only wear them on special occasions, darling.
Gloves, hats, muffs, fur, glam dresses and tiaras are just some of the other beautiful items that will channel your inner girl, and make you think about Disney and princesses in castles. The best part of this store is the owners are true vintage lovers and [don't seem to] mind you wandering around and just wallowing in the beauty of their shop.
Passionata’s treasures have been featured in many magazines and are frequently featured in Fashion Quarterly. Keep your eyes peeled (or sign up to their newletter) for the pop-up store in the Takapuna mall at Christmas time, it’s NOT to be missed!
